The Word at the Center
I’m Garey Walker, a pastor, Bible teacher, writer, and artist. My work grows from a conviction that God’s truth deserves careful attention, faithful proclamation, and beautiful expression.
I have been called by God to lead His people through the faithful preaching of His Word, using words to paint the reality of Scripture so clearly that people can see the world, themselves, and their future through the hope of God’s truth.
I do not want merely to explain what the Bible means. I want people to see what its truth means for them—to behold Christ, understand God’s purposes, and envision a life shaped by what God has said. My desire is that the Word would reach both mind and heart, producing understanding that leads to worship, faith, hope, repentance, and transformation.
My goal is to tell the story of Scripture faithfully and vividly enough that people see the living reality Scripture places before them.
Pastoral Ministry
I serve as pastor of Living Way Church, where I have the privilege of opening Scripture and walking with people through both ordinary days and difficult seasons. The church has long expressed its calling in three phrases: biblically based, Christ centered, and a caring community. Those commitments also describe the kind of ministry I want to offer.
I attended Capital Bible Seminary and received additional training in biblical counseling. That formation strengthened my conviction that theology belongs in the whole of life. Scripture speaks not only to what we believe, but also to how we endure suffering, love our neighbors, make decisions, repent, hope, and follow Christ.
Writing and Sacred Art
Writing gives me room to linger over questions that cannot always be settled in a sermon. I write to bring biblical truth into conversation with the fears, pressures, uncertainties, and hopes we carry into everyday life.
Sacred art grows from the same pursuit. Beauty can slow us down, draw our attention, and help familiar truth confront us afresh. I create images shaped by Scripture, theology, history, and the Christian story—not as decoration for its own sake, but so that beauty may serve truth and point beyond the work itself toward Christ.
I preach because truth deserves to be understood. I create because truth also deserves to be seen.
