Through the Hope of Truth

Biblical discernment for the present age.

The world moves quickly. The truth of God does not. This series examines the events, controversies, fears, and cultural changes shaping our lives and asks a deeper question: How should Christians understand and faithfully respond through the truth of Scripture?

The Word Made Known

“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us…”

— John 1:14 (ESV)

I believe preaching should do more than explain a passage. It should help people see the God who speaks through it.

My approach to teaching is verse by verse, rooted in the text, shaped by the whole counsel of Scripture, and aimed at the heart as well as the mind. I want careful exegesis to lead somewhere: toward clearer sight of Christ, deeper trust in God, and faithful life in the world he has made.

When Deliverance Must Wait

Moses could see the need, but he could not produce deliverance. Exodus 2 teaches us to act faithfully without seizing control and to trust the covenant God who hears, remembers, sees, and knows.

Sacred Art

Beauty can make us stop long enough to see.

Sacred art can slow us down, draw our attention, and help familiar truth confront us afresh. I create images shaped by Scripture, theology, history, and the beauty of the Christian story.

The goal is not decoration for its own sake, but attention — to linger over a moment, to notice what the text reveals, and to let beauty serve truth.

Word, world, and image belong to the same pursuit.

I preach because truth deserves to be understood.

I write because truth must shape how we see the world. I create because truth also deserves to be seen.

Whether through exposition, writing, or art, the aim is the same: to point beyond the work itself toward the God who has spoken and made himself known in Christ.

When Everything Shakes

Hebrews does not promise us a predictable world. It gives us something better: through Christ we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, so faithfulness does not have to wait for circumstances to feel secure.

About

Pastor. Teacher. Artist.

I’m Garey Walker, a pastor, Bible teacher, writer, and artist. My work grows from a conviction that God’s truth deserves careful attention, faithful proclamation, and beautiful expression.

I love opening Scripture verse by verse, thinking theologically about the whole of life, and creating sacred art that invites people to look again at the beauty and hope of the gospel. Whether I’m preaching, writing, or making an image, the aim is the same: to point beyond the work itself toward Christ.
